Red Wing has survived economic crises, world wars and changing markets, and stayed true to its values along the way. A new book now tells how: The Red Wing Way follows the Red Wing Shoe Company from a small Minnesota maker to a globally known shoe brand.
Founded in 1905, the company made its name with reliable footwear for workers, military members, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Innovative marketing, its own growing retail network and a firm commitment to craftsmanship turned a regional business into an international brand.
In recent years, the iconic boots have also found a new audience in fashion and streetwear culture.
The book collects historic catalogues, archive photographs, fashion imagery and stories from employees and customers. Rare portraits of formative personalities and insights into the art of bootmaking add even more depth. Award-winning author Dave Kenney draws a layered picture of a company that was willing to take risks, stayed close to its community and built a legacy that lives on today.
